Day 1 London
Depart from London Heathrow airport for Shanghai by a scheduled flight in the afternoon
Day 2 Shanghai
Arrive at Shanghai Pudong airport in the afternoon. After clearing customs and immigration, you will be met by our local tour guide and transferred to a 4-star hotel. After a short break, visit the Yu garden, a well restored Suzhou style garden in the old area of the city, and a stroll along the lively waterfront, known as the Bund, where our guide will show you the land marks along "China's Wall Street" and one of the world's highest buildings in the newly developed land across the bustling Huangpu River.
Day 3 Shanghai/Beijing
Visit Shanghai Museum, one of the best of its kind in China. Then depart Shanghai by flight and arrive in Beijing the afternoon. At Beijing Capital Airport, you will be met by our local guide and transferred to centrally located 4-star hotel.
Day 4 Beijing
An exciting day begins with a tour of the Tian'anmen (Heavenly Peace Gate) Square, the largest square in the world, in the heart of Beijing. Move on to the Forbidden City, fomer Imperial Palace, built in the Emperor Yongle period in 1420 during the Ming Dynasty. In the afternoon, visit the Summer Palace, located in the northwest suburb of Beijing, a former royal resort with beautiful man-made Kunming Lake, rockeries, pavilions, and gardens, among the largest and best-preserved imperial gardens in the world.
Day 5 Beijing
Take your long expected excursion to the Great Wall, one of the seven wonders in the world. The Great Wall was first built in 5th century BC with a total length of over 3300 miles. There, you will live up to the old Chinese saying, "Unless you reach the Great Wall, you are not a hero". After lunch, you will be driven to the Ming Tombs to tour the Ding Tomb, the only one excavated of the 13 tombs. Peking Roast Duck is served for dinner.
Day 6 Beijing/Xi'an
After breakfast, visit the Temple of Heaven, the largest existing temple complex in China, where the Ming and Qing emperors prayed for bumper harvest. Depart Beijing for Xi'an, the ancient capital for eleven dynasties. On arrival, transfer to a 4-star hotel.
Day 7 Xi'an
The highlight of the day is visiting the Terra-Cotta Warriors, the discovery of the life-size terra cotta warriors drew world attention at the time and it is regarded as the eighth wonder of the world. The excavation site houses one of the most important archealogical findings of our time. The three pits contain more than 7300 warriors, horses and chariots crafted over 2000 years ago in honour of China's first emperor. Return to the city to do some sightseeing before attending a Tang Dynasty Theatre dinner show in the evening.
Day 8 Xi'an/Guilin
In the morning, visit the Provincial Museum, in which on display are more than 3000 rare cultural relics from various historical periods. Then depart Xi'an by flight. Arrive in Guilin in the afternoon. Transfer to a 3-start hotel.
Day 9 Guilin
Having the most beautiful scenery in China, Guilin is well known for its verdant hills, limpid waters, mysterious caves and grotesque rocks. To enjoy the charming sight of odd-looking cliffs and stalactites by the river, you will take a cruise along 83km long section of the Li River from Guilin to Yangshuo, its picturesque scenery regarded by the Chinese since ancient time as best of Guilin. Return to Guilin by coach in the afternoon.
Day 10 Guilin/Shanghai
More sightseeing in this beautiful city including the Seven Star Park, the largest park in Guilin which integrates hills, water, caves and cultural relics into one and the wonderful limestone karst cave known as the Reed Flute Cave. Depart Guilin by flight and arrive in Shanghai in the afternoon. Tranfer to a 3-star hotel.
Day 11 Shanghai
In the morning visit the Jade Pagoda Temple, which keeps the jade Buddha carved out of a single piece of white jade brought from Burma. In the afternoon, shopping in the pedestrian only Nanjing Road, honoured with the title China's No.1 Street and shopping Mecca for visitors.
Day 12 Shanghai/London
Depart Shanghai by flight and arrive in London the same day.
